Information We Collect
1.1 Information You Create
When you use Jhuri, you may create the following content which is stored exclusively on your device:
- Shopping lists and items you add to them
- Custom items and custom categories you create
- Prices and quantity information you enter
- App preferences and settings (language, theme, notification preferences)
This data never leaves your device and is not transmitted to us or any third party.
1.2 Information Collected Automatically
We do not directly collect any personal information. However, our third-party partners may automatically collect certain technical information:
- Google AdMob — Device identifiers (Advertising ID), device type, OS version, approximate country-level location (via IP), and ad interaction data.
- Firebase Crashlytics — Device model, OS version, a per-installation identifier (not linked to any personal identity), and technical crash logs.
- Firebase Analytics — Anonymised app usage patterns such as screen visits and feature interactions. No personally identifiable information is collected.
All such data is processed by Google in accordance with Google's Privacy Policy.
1.3 Information We Do Not Collect
- Your name, email address, or any contact information
- Precise or approximate location data
- Photos, media, or files from your device
- Contacts or call logs
- Financial or payment information
How We Use Information
- Delivering app functionality — your locally stored lists and items are used solely to provide the features you requested
- Serving advertisements — Google AdMob uses device and usage data to serve relevant ads within the App
- App stability monitoring — Firebase Crashlytics uses technical crash data to help us identify and fix bugs
- Usage improvement — Firebase Analytics helps us understand which features are used most, so we can prioritise improvements
Advertising
Jhuri uses Google AdMob to display advertisements. AdMob may serve personalized or non-personalized ads depending on your device settings and applicable regional laws.
3.1 Opting Out
You can opt out of personalised ads at any time:
- Android: Settings → Google → Ads → "Delete advertising ID" or "Opt out of Ads Personalization"
3.2 Children & Ads
Jhuri is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly serve targeted advertisements to children.

Data Storage & Security
4.1 Local Storage
All user-generated data (lists, custom items, settings) is stored locally on your device using Android's secure local storage (Drift/SQLite). This data is not backed up to any external server by us.
4.2 Data Retention
Your locally stored data is retained on your device until you delete it manually in the App, use the Clear All Data option, or uninstall the App. Crash data collected by Firebase Crashlytics is retained for 90 days, after which it is automatically deleted from Google's servers.
4.3 Security
We rely on Android's built-in security model to protect locally stored data. No method of storage is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
Your Rights & Data Deletion
5.1 Deleting Your Data
You can delete all locally stored data directly within the App:
- Open Jhuri → Settings → Clear All Data → Confirm
5.2 Uninstalling
Uninstalling Jhuri from your device will remove all locally stored app data.
5.3 Advertising Data
To reset or delete your Advertising ID: Settings → Google → Ads → "Delete advertising ID".
Third-Party Services
App Permissions
- POST_NOTIFICATIONS — Required to deliver shopping reminders you set within the App.
- RECEIVE_BOOT_COMPLETED — Required to reschedule your reminders after the device restarts.
- VIBRATE — Required for haptic feedback in Shopping Mode when items are checked.
- WAKE_LOCK — Used transiently during initial database seeding on first launch.
- INTERNET — Required to load advertisements and transmit crash/analytics data.
No other permissions are requested. We do not request access to your camera, microphone, contacts, or location.
Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we make changes, the effective date at the top of this page will be revised. Significant changes will be communicated through an in-app notification or Play Store update notice.
